Turkey Time Pairings!

November 27, 2019

What up, it’s almost turkey time! Whether you’re hosting, in charge of apps for a Friendsgiving, heading home for the holiday, or, dun dun dun – visiting your S.O.’s fam for the feast – you’ll want to make sure there is good beer involved. We know, we know, so many delicious craft beers out there, how do you choose? Lucky for you, we’ve put together this little Thanksgiving pairing guide. So whatever you’ve been assigned for the big meal, we’ve got a beer for that.

Apps

If you are heading over to a football-focused T-gives, might we suggest a classic seven layer dip. To go with all those classic Tex-Mex flavors, Cerveceria Colorado (our sister brewery!) makes a fantastic and easy-drinking Venga Mexican Lager to ease you into the afternoon.

For a classy affair, put together a fancy cheese and charcuterie plate. Super easy, super crowd pleasing, we promise. To go with it we’d recommend our Incredible Pedal IPA. IPA’s are a fantastic complement to cheeses of all kinds and you’ll be sure to impress.

Mains

Whether you’re in charge of creating the perfect side dish or you’re hosting the whole feast, you’ll want a beer that pairs with butter. Thanksgiving is full of rich flavors and sides, so we love our Princess Yum Yum Raspberry Kolsch with the meal to add a little tartness to contrast with the richness of the bird (and stuffing, and mashed potatoes, and green beans, and…)

Dessert

If you are a traditionalist and pumpkin pie is on the menu, we love our Pretzel Assassin Amber Lager with this desert as it compliments, but does not distract from the classic pie spices. If you’re open to mixing it up this year, we have a couple of fun beer and pie ideas to surprise and delight. Try these on for size:

  • Apple Pie + Princess Yum Yum
  • Chocolate Chess Pie + Graham Cracker Porter
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie + Peanut Butter Graham Cracker Porter

Wherever you are this Thanksgiving, we hope you have a fun and festive feast with loved ones all around. And let us say, thank you for being part of the Denver Beer Co. family, we are so grateful for you, Denver!

Cheers & Happy Thanksgiving!
