This month we had the opportunity to brew a very special beer with our 2016 Non-Profit Partner – First Descents. Each year Denver Beer Co. selects one Colorado-based non-profit organization as its charity partner for a twelve month term. Denver Beer Co. designed the program to make a significant impact for one organization in the Colorado community through joint fundraising efforts, public awareness, and service.
First Descents is a non-profit organization based in Denver, Colo. which offers young adults (ages 18-39) impacted by cancer a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same.
One of the components of the partnership is a brew day. This March, we got the FD crew together and spent a day brewing an American IPA which will later be bottled in 22 oz. bombers for the organization to use in their fundraising efforts. Named Thirst Descents, this special brew is hopped with Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo, Citra, and Simcoe hops, has citrus, piney, and fruity hop complexity and comes in at 6.5% ABV. We had a pretty fantastic day brewing with the FD team and all enjoyed the morning “Hot Scotties”! One of the FD team members, Becca, designed the awesome labels.
Over the course of our 12 month partnership with First Descents, we are proud to have donated over $10,000 in cash and in-kind donations to the organization. Cheers to First Descents, we are proud to have had the opportunity to support your amazing cause over the past year!
