Denver Beer Co. Welcomes Brian Weslar as Director of Sales

February 11, 2016

Weslar to lead sales team and oversee distribution for Denver Beer Co.

Denver, Colo. (Feb. 11. 2016) – Brian Weslar joined the Denver Beer Co. team in February as Director of Sales.  In this new position, Weslar will lead the Denver Beer Co. sales team, manage Denver Beer Co.’s relationship with Breakthru Beverage, and create a strategic plan for Denver Beer Co.’s growth statewide.BrianWeslar_DBC

Brian Weslar brings extensive experience managing beer distributor networks and brand portfolios to the Denver Beer Co. team. Prior to joining Denver Beer Co., Weslar acted as Sales Director for Warsteiner Importers Agency, managing the 19-state western division of the German brewing groups’ distribution and sales.   Weslar had been with Warsteiner since 1998, also holding positions as Regional Sales Manager, and Account Manager.  Earlier in his career, Weslar held the position of Director of Sales for Tabernash Brewery, purchased by Left Hand Brewery, and the position of Sales Manager for Western Murray Distribution Company.  Weslar is a graduate of The Colorado College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

“I have been very fortunate to enjoy a 23 year career in the great beer industry with 3.5 of those years being in the craft world,” stated Weslar. “My time at Tabernash microbrewery was far and away the best part of my career.  That feeling led to a strong desire to return to the exciting, creative craft sector.  Denver Beer Co felt like a great fit from day one and I was impressed by the world class brew and passion to become Denver’s brewery and a strong Colorado/regional player.  I am happy to return to my roots and be back with my people in the craft universe.”

Weslar will work with Denver Beer Co.’s existing five person sales team and will manage the relationship with Denver Beer Co.’s distributor, Breakthru Beverage.  He will be responsible for expanding the brand in new markets statewide and directing sales activities with Denver Beer Co.’s 750 existing accounts along the Colorado Front Range and I-70 corridor.

“We are experiencing a rapid growth period at Denver Beer Co. and are excited to have Brian help us create a strategic plan and lead our sales team as we continue to expand to new markets throughout the state,” stated  co-founder Patrick Crawford. “Brian’s direction will help us continue to expand tactically and sustainably in new markets in Colorado.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Brian back to craft beer as it is truly an exciting time in this growing and dynamic industry,” added co-founder Charlie Berger. “The craft beer business in Colorado is exemplary of the state’s work-hard, play-hard attitude; we’re having a lot of fun helping support the growth of craft beer culture in Denver and beyond.”

Denver Beer Co was founded in 2011 and has two breweries including a taproom and beer garden on Platte Street in downtown Denver, and a production brewery, Canworks, in Denver’s Sunnyside neighborhood which focuses primarily on the brewing, canning, and bottling of beer for distribution.
