So….You’re New to Denver?

July 26, 2019

So…you just moved to Denver! Welcome! One of the best things about this state is the fact that all of us are transplants, well, except our co-founder Charlie Berger who actually did grow up here. And since everyone is from somewhere else, Colorado is a super welcoming place and most people are eager to make new friends. Like us – we’d love to be your friend.

As a newb, you’ll probably want to do all the Colorado things. So we’ve put together this great list of places to go and things to see if you are new to the state. These are just a few of our favorites…we can’t give away all our secret spots, you’ll have to find some of those on your own.

Denver’s Parks – There is nothing quite so lovely as an afternoon in one of Denver’s parks with some friends, a picnic, a few beers, and a spikeball set. Wash Park is super popular, and City Park is a great spot for live Jazz and an epic picnic scene on Summer Sundays (check out our beer garden!), but our personal favorite for a lazy Sunday afternoon is Cheesman Park. The grass is pristine, devoid of goose poop, and perfect for picnicking.

Live Music – You’ll definitely want to catch a show at Red Rocks over the summer, there is nothing quite like it on earth. But Denver also has some great smaller venues like The Fillmore, The Bluebird, and The Ogden. Grab your crew, some O&A Colorado Craft Hard Seltzer, and dance your heart out!

Mountain Stuff – That’s why you moved here, right? The mountains are calling and we must go! Pro-tip – take a ride up highway 285 towards Buena Vista and Salida. You’ll find epic hiking, some super cute mountain towns, and some awesome old-school ski mountains like Monarch and Ski Cooper. Best of all, you won’t be sitting in traffic for four hours on I-70 with all those fools headed to Summit County.

Now You’re Hungry? Great, Denver has amazing food. You’ll never get into all the amazing new hip places, so check out these “old school” Denver favorites: Lucille’s for brunch, Tacos Tequila Whisky for amazing cocktails and tacos, Table 6 for a hot date, and definitely check out Little Man Ice Cream for dessert. Or just join us on our patio for some beers, perhaps a few food truck snacks, and good times with all your new friends.
