DBC Spotlight: Dana B.! Events Woman Extraordinaire!

February 3, 2016

We think its high time you got to know some of the amazing folks who make up our Denver Beer Co. family.  Each month we’ll put one of our amazing peeps in the spotlight, and let you get to know a bit more about them.  Our first guinea pig is Dana, our amazing and amazingly awesome Events Coordinator.  You’ve probably seen her around the Platte Street Taproom, now get to know the girl that plans our awesome parties!

Q:What is your hometown, and how long have you lived in CO?  What brought you out here?

A: I was born in Chicago, Illinois but was raised most my life in Westerville, Ohio. I have lived in Colorado for almost three years. My sense of adventure and wanting a change in pace brought me to Colorado. I have always loved visiting these mountains and they have always felt like home to me. #mountainspirit

Q: Nice use of hashtags. How long have you been with DBC?

A:I have been with Denver Beer Company since April 2015.

Q: Happy almost anniversary! What did you do before joining the DBC family?

A: I was the Special Events Manager at Beaver Creek Ski Resort.

Q: That sounds almost as fun as working at Denver Beer Co.  So what is your job title, and what do you do on a “typical” day at DBC?

A: I am the Event Coordinator for Denver Beer Co. On a typical day… I talk to a lot of people on the phone, email and in person. Do a lot of paperwork. Drink some coffee. Drink some beer. Organize some things. Have lots of fun planning some kick ass parties!

Q: So what get’s you out of bed and brings you into work each morning?  1898217_1404841256265_5780728098580779180_n (1)

A: The hilarious laughs I share with my coworkers and the excitement of helping plan good times for all our customers and guests!

Q: We’re assuming you like beer, what else motivates you to work in the beer industry?

A: A challenge! I have never worked in the beer industry before and it is something I wanted to learn more about.

Q: Do you have a favorite memory, or a great story from working here?

A: Completing our DBC Explorer 36 hour challenge! Our DBC Explorer Ambassador Brantley, and I hit 25 DBC Explorer spots in 36 hours. In the first 18 hours we hiked 16 miles, drove 400 miles and went to 8 locations. In the next 18 hours we had to reach 1 location per an hour and we did it! It was such a fun and challenging way to visit some awesome Colorado locations!

Q: Whoa.  Sounds like you were probably thirsty after all that. What’s your favorite beer we make or have made?

A: Graham Cracker Porter will always have my heart. No matter the time of day, season, outdoors or indoors. GCP is always my go to! In the summertime I like to add a splash of Princess Yum Yum Raspberry Kolsch and in the fall, Hey! Pumpkin. My mouth is watering now thinking about it that I am going to go pour myself one now.

Q: And what about one that’s not from us?

A: Breckenridge Agave Wheat

Q: So, what do you do for fun? Or what does your ideal day off look like?

A: My ideal day off would include first chair, making turns on some fresh corduroy, while at the same time summiting a 14er at sunrise. Riding my dirt bike in the Front Range, while also catching a fish on my fly rod. Ending the day enjoying a Graham Cracker Porter around a campfire with my friends. How can I make that day happen?

Q: What are one or two items on your bucket list

A: 1. Hike the Colorado Trail; and  2. Visit all 50 states – just have 4 more to go! 🙂

Q: If you could have a beer with any person (dead or alive), who would you choose and what beer would you drink?

A: I’d love to share a Sun Drenched with Ronald Reagan.

Thanks Dana!  If you see Dana around, be sure to say hi and talk to her more about her amazing 36 hour explorer challenge and Graham Cracker Porter mixology.  Cheers!
