This past Saturday we celebrated the unwavering dedication of eleven DBC Explorers who successfully completed the DBC Explorer challenge. The DBC Explorer challenge began in late August with the release of Denver Beer Co.’s first cans. Each can of Incredible Pedal and Graham Cracker Porter is marked with a GPS coordinate for a location in Colorado for a total of 24 different coordinates and unique locations. Participants in the DBC Explorer challenge were required to visit all twenty-four locations and take a photo in each spot before the November 7 deadline in order to be eligible for the Grand Prize – free Denver Beer Co. beer for one year. Not an easy challenge! Many brave souls traveled to the secret locations across Colorado, but only eleven completed the challenge. This task was not an easy one, so we rewarded these eleven people for their hard work with an evening of good food, good beer, and story swapping.
The night started with an an epic beer pairing dinner at Jax Fish House. We shared a delicious meal featuring oysters and other seafood and each Explorer told stories about their experiences on and off the trail. The beer pairing included Graham Cracker Porter, The Wilderness, Smoked Baltic Porter, and the upcoming canned seasonal, Sun-Drenched Wheat.
After dinner, we continued the party at Denver Beer Co.’s Barrel Room. The anticipation grew with each passing moment. Who would win free beer for a year? First we gave out multiple awards to recognize the creativity, humor, and of course the best furry companion of the participants. Then, finally, it was time to reveal a winner for the grand prize. We placed a photo of each finisher in a box, gave it a good shake, and then co-founder Patrick Crawford reached in to draw out one very lucky person’s name.
A look of surprise and elation came to Cory Palm’s face as he recognized his photo in Patrick’s hand. He shouted with joy and bolted up to the front to claim his prize. For Cory the spirit and camaraderie of the competition, and the joy of exploring so many new and beautiful places were as great a prize as free beer for a year. So after his short and sweet speech he shared the wealth with his fellow explorers, passing each of the finishers a ‘free case of beer’ coupon. Cory Palm truly embodies the spirit of Denver Beer Co as an adventurer, a carefree soul, a friend, and a beer lover.
With the #DBCExplorer challenge such a success this year, we are excited to bring the contest back next summer even bigger and better. Rest up and join the fun!
